The government has provided further funding for enhancing the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding is provided jointly by the Department for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport. The funding is for all primary schools with the aim of improving PE and Sport for all children.
This funding is paid directly to schools and is ring- fenced; it therefore can only be spent on PE and Sport in school.
Following the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games the government are providing all schools with extra funding to enable schools to provide a Sporting Legacy. Schools are free to use their funding with the aim that they improve the quality and breadth of PE and sports provision, including increasing participation in sport and PE so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.
North Rigton CE Primary school will now receive £16,000 plus £10 per pupil, in 2 separate payments for the Year 2017-18.
